The Santa Fe Birth Center is unique here in town, as it is the only facility of its kind here. The owner is a long time friend, as I met her over 40 years ago when my first full time construction job was for her then husband! This was a remodel of an existing old Adobe home with as they say”good bones” and with the help of the talented architect, Michael Krupnick, transformed into a warm welcoming space where brand new Santa Feans can be born into this world.I was really honored to be part of the team that helped create this space.

Some or what was done:

New mechanical system. The existing HVAC system was not code compliant for a medical facility- so a new mini split system was installed to supply heating and cooling, by Eagle Eye Mechanical
The existing second bathroom was turned into a hallway to the back portion of the building . A new bathroom was installed adjacent to birth room 2.

Birth room 1- the most work was done here, completely reconfigured the space. Doors were removed, relocated, a whole new bathroom area was plumbed. New windows, new exit door, installed, Walls were floated out over exiting rough platter and painted smooth.

Michael Krupnick, the architect, was instrumental in realizing the clients ideas into exactly the space she wanted! Its s o much more fun to have a good team between owner and client, both of which allowed imputes from myself and my subcontractors, to help make the space the warm and welcoming one it is now
