EXTRAORDINARY COMMUNITY SPACES TOURS
No. 3 THE SILER YARD ARTS+CREATIVITY CENTER
The Siler Yard Arts+Creativity Center began in 2012 when Creative Santa Fe engaged with Artspace to investigate the possibility of an affordable live/work rental project in Santa Fe. The core of the project is 65 units of income-restricted affordable live/work rental housing in one- two- and three-bedroom configurations.
Siler Yard is the first multifamily structure in New Mexico designed to be net-zero energy, meaning it will generate enough solar electricity to offset its entire consumption as well as feature cutting-edge water and energy efficiency. Join the Siler Yard Arts+Creativity Center team for docent-led tours from 10-2 pm Aug. 21. Special reservations are not required for this tour and Parade of Homes ticket holders are invited to attend.
Saturday, Aug. 20 from 10 AM – 2 PM

No. 4 THE BACA STREET DISTRICT, SANTA FE RAIL YARD AND TRAILHEAD
The wedged-shaped Baca Street District marks the southern end of the Santa Fe Railyard and once served as a coal and fuel storage yard for the Denver and Rio Grande and New Mexico Central railways.
The area still connects to the north railyard by a still visible rail alignment across the area currently occupied by the New Mexico School of the Deaf. The ten-acre site now hosts myriad creative businesses and non-traditional living spaces that serve as examples of how Santa Fe might make innovative use of limited urban space to create thriving, livable, and breathable micro-communities.
Head over to the Baca Railyard District (900 Block of Shoofly Street) 10 am-2 pm Saturday, Aug. 20 and be treated to special tours of the living spaces, businesses, gallery openings, and a demonstration of Hempcrete, an architectural building material of the future.
