2022 City of Santa Fe Land Use Survey
We love our events. They create tremendous opportunities for builders to show off their skills and offer the community chances to meet builders as they start their own home-building adventures. Events also generate the revenue our Association needs to take on the issues that are essential for a thriving home-sweet-home building industry. Issues like developing skilled labor, advocating for solutions to the supply chain slowdown, and intervening in the regulatory environment or adopting of codes that impact our industry require a LOT of attention.
Take part in these TWO surveys
SURVEY 1: [LINK] Improving efficiency at our local Land Use and Planning Department.
YOUR feedback and experience are vital and serve as a guide, helping us to effectively work with local and State government officials to improve the way permits, plan reviews, and inspections are handled and which new codes are being adopted and enforced.
PLEASE TAKE THE SURVEY this week. We will meet with the Land Use Departments and New Mexico Construction Industries Division later this month to work on important projects – like the effort to adopt third-party plan review – one idea among many that we believe will speed up the deployment of much-needed housing in our region and State.
Promoting Locally Sourced and Responsibly Harvested Wood Products SURVEY
SURVEY 2: [LINK] Resilient Forests – Local Economies – Good Wood!
This survey, being conducted by the Source Verified GoodWood® program is a collaboration with Build Green New Mexico, Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association, and New Mexico Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department to launch a pilot effort to award credit for the use of locally sourced and responsibly harvested forest products towards certification under Build Green New Mexico (BGNM). Certification under BGNM is required to qualify for the New Mexico Sustainable Building Tax Credit program.
This survey will help us to understand the demand for and availability of a variety of wood products that could be locally produced. The survey should take less than 10 minutes and does not request detailed or proprietary business information. The final survey question is an invitation to participate in a follow-up interview. Thank you again for your time in taking these surveys.
June 23rd Lunch and Learn w/ NM Construction Industries Division – RSVP!
This Lunch and Learn will highlight the State’s “Employee Permitting and Inspections Central” (EPIC) system. This presentation with the Construction Industries Division will include how to update user profiles and how to enter a new permit. CID’s team will go through the complete entry of a permit, the process for scheduling inspections, and checking the status of permits and inspections. CID will be available after the presentation to field additional questions or concerns.
We have worked very hard to create NEW and productive relationships with local and State officials, and are just beginning to see the fruits of that labor. Join us on June 23rd for the luncheon and speak with the state’s team. (THIS LUNCHEON still needs a SPONSOR – contact 505-982-1774 if you would be willing to help purchase the sandwiches!)
We are always looking for new generic folks to join the work. On the horizon we’ll be working with the state to simplify the code around grey water systems. The summer and fall of 2022 will see MAJOR efforts by our Association and allies to make changes to zoning in Santa Fe that allows for greater density and more creative ways to responsibly and sustainably grow our communities.
…and finally – How About we Have some FUN!
29th Annual Golf Tournament is July 22nd!
Sign up for our golf tournament coming up on July 22nd at Santa Fe Country Club. Huge thanks to this year’s sponsors: Sierra West Sales / Sierra Design, Builders First Source, Build Magazine, Archeo Architects, Central Insurance / Hub Insurance and Builders Trust!
